    Update : 2008-07-08

The 4th of July saw a massive show held at Lumpini, the once a year J.P.R7 show, held in conjunctionn with Petchyindee promotions and General Methi Thamrangsee of the Royal Thai Army

Wanchai Sor Kittisak   vs   Thanusuklek Or Kwanmuang

This was a rematch from a fight at Ratchadamnern the previous month that saw Wanchai caught cold with a hard left hook in the first round. This fight had Wanchai defending his Lumpini Mini-flyweight title. In round 1 Thanusuklek starts strongly, working over the legs of Wanchai with hard lowkicks and firing in a few fast punches. Wanchai looks a little intimidated as if maybe he has the previous months fight on his mind. In rd 2 Thanusuklek starts of in the same manner working the legs of Wanchai, a short way into the round Thanusuklek lands with a solid straight right and then follows up with a hard left hook and Wanchai crashes to the canvas where he is counted out.

       Panomrunglek Kiatmuu9   vs   Nongnaen Kiatprathum

The first round sees both fighters just looking to get into a rhythm. In rd2 Nongnaen starts to push forward now, but is up against one of the most stylish fighters in the sport today in Panomrunglek, who comes in with fast punches and kicks and takes out Nongnaen’s legs several times with well timed lowkicks. Panomrunglek shows his class as he moves off of Nongnaen’s attacks and whenever Nongnaen gets close, he spins him off balance from the clinch. Nongnaen keeps on marching forward and fires in some solid straight punches to the body and some hard kicks, but Panomrunglek looks in control and doesn’t even look like he is out of second gear yet. Near the end of the round Panomrunglek opens up with a salvo of hard punches that force Nongnaen back across the ring. Nongnaen’s determination shows no sign of waning in the 3rd as he marches out again and looks to try and take the fight into the clinch. Panomrunglek is putting on a masterclass though and spins Nongnaen off balance or moves off of Nongnaen’s attacks and fires in fast roundkicks and sharp long knees and punches. Nongnaen comes out punching at the start of the 4th and gets through with a couple of solid shots, which stir the crowd a little. Panomrunglek still looks slick though as he stays away from any real danger and comes back with more fast kicks and knees. Nongnaen gets through with a couple of hard bodykicks near the end of the round, that again get the crowd cheering a little, but Panomrunglek just opens up again and stays comfortably ahead. Nongnaen comes out looking for a knockout in the final round and lads with a highkick and a couple of solid looking punches, but Panomrunglek looks a level or two above and jabs and moves away from anymore danger up to the bell, where he is awarded the points win.

Rungpetch Wor Sangprapai   vs   Chatchai Sor Thanayong

This fight sees Rungpetch defend his Lumpini Flyweight title.

Both fighters ease into the fight in the opening round. In rd2 Rungpetch looks to come from beind his pushkicks and try and come into the clinch, but Chatchai looks sharp as he catches the pushkicks of Rungpetch and pulls him forward and then explodes with fast punches. Chatchai knocks Rungpetch off his feet with a fast pushkick and another one crashes into the face of Rungpetch. Rungpetch keeps pushing forward, but struggles to get off with any clean shots. Rungpetch starts to get through in rd3 as he pushes forward and gets Chatchai in a vice like clinch and opens up with knees. Chatchai trys to fight back in the clinch and maneuver his arms in to take control, but the superior height and the strength of Rungpetch makes it difficult. Rungpetch keeps pushing forward in rd4, but Chatchai manages to get off with some sharp kicks and knees now, keeping the fight close. Rungpetch lands with more big knees, but Chatchai keeps catching him back with hard knees of his own. The final round is very close with Chatchai getting through with more sharp kicks and some hard, stabbing knees. Rungpetch scores wth more hard knees and both fighters stand off, the bell sounds to end the fight and the judges go for Rungpetch, with Chatchai seen as not quite doing enough in the final round, if he would have kept going for the win and maybe landed with two or 3 more kicks, chances are it would have been his arm raised at the end.

Chalermdet Infinity   vs   Pansak Luk Bor Kor

This fight is for Chalermdet’s Lumpini featherweight title.

The first two rounds are fairly slow to get going, with Chalermdet slightly the more aggressive of the two. In rd3 Chalermdet pushes forward, opening up with hard punches and firing in some fast kicks. Pansak smothers the attacks well though and fires back with heavy roundkicks. Chalermdet comes out with hard knees and elbows at the start of the 4th, but again Pansak contains his attacks well and comes in with hard bodykicks throughout. Chalermdet opens up with hard punches, but most look like wild swings. Chalermdet paces forward again in the final round opening up with more wild punches, but Pansak moves away and jabs and pushkicks Chalermdet off balance to take a comfortable points win and Chalermdet’s title.

Petchboonchu F.A Group   vs   Rungruanglek Lukprabart

The first two rounds are fought typical Thai style, with both just feeling out each others defences a little. Petchboonchu is slightly the more aggressive of the two as he pushes forward and looks to clinch. The fight moves into the clinch in the 3rd, both fighters battle to get the upperhand, but Petchboonchu looks considerably taller and bigger and Rungruanglek struggles to stay in the fight. Both land with good knees, but Petchboonchu looks to be too moving ahead. Rungruanglek gets a little bit of success in the 4th rd, as he trys to turn Petchboonchu off balance and manages to spin him down a couple of times. Petchboonchu comes back strongly though and lands with hard driving knees through the middle. Rungruanglek tries his hardest in the final round to get back in the fight, but Petchboonchu’s size proves to be too much and he cruises to the win.

Saenchai Sor Kingstar    vs   Wuttidet Lukprabart

The main event was an eagerly awaited match up between two of the sports superstar fighters, Saenchai widely considered the pound for pound greatest fighter in the sport today and Wuttidet on a great streak of wins and recently crowned Sportswriters boxer of the year. In the opening round Saenchai comes out showboating with some fast shoulder shakes and fancy foot shuffles and lands with a couple of sharp kicks. Wuttidet looks like he is just biding his time for the later rounds. Wuttidet comes out more positively in round 2, coming forward and trying to take the fight into the clinch and open up with knees. Saenchai has slowed down now and just looks like he wants to contain Wuttidets attacks, but gets through with a solid bodykick at the end of the round. Wuttidet has a huge round in the 3rd, marching forward and landing with several hard elbows and some hard knee barrages. Saenchai tries to fire back with hard punches, but Wuttidet doesn't give him any room and comes in with more hard knees and elbows. Saenchai goes back to his corner at the end of the round with a swelling growing under his right eye. Saenchai claws his way back into the fight in the 4th with some razor sharp kicks. Saenchai knows he needs a big round to stay in the fight and opens up with fast left kicks and sharp long knees. Wuttidet is still fired up though and lands with more big knees and just misses with a furious elbow that luckily for Saenchai is just a few millimeters short of the target. Both fighters trade shots now in an electrifying end to the round, that sees both fighters pump their arms into the air at the bell. The final round is very close with both trading fast shots again, Saenchai with more fast kicks and Wuttidet with more heavy knees and Wuttidet also comes in with some fast counters, after ducking under some of Saenchai's kicks and springing back up with fast kicks of his own. Both fighters stand off each other now and take their chances with the judges, there is a little discontent from the crowd, unhappy thaqt they thought Saenchai moved away from Wuttidet too much. The judges call a split decision with one scoring it a draw, but the other two go for Wuttidet, setting the scene fror a rematch on the 6th of August that will surely draw in a huge crowd.
