Lumpini stadium are ready to hold their next prestigious Champions Kriekkrai event on the 5th of September and have gone back to the original concept to try and make the event as big as possible.

It’s no secret that since the stadium made the move over to Ram Intra road, the promoters have struggled a little. An uncertain political climate didn’t help matters, but things have quietened down on that front now and the stadium are working to turn things around and get the crowds back. When they originally started the Lumpini Champions Kriekkrai shows a few years back, the stadium controlled them themselves and tried to put as many varied match-ups with fighters from different promoters as possible. The changed along the way though and assigned one of the regular promoters to deal with the fight cards, but with complaints that the shows were becoming just another card for the individual promoters and certain promoters not working together, the fans were not getting the fights they really wanted to see. After the last one it was decided that the stadium would take back full control of the events and they also decided to let the fans know what fights they wanted to see. With whiteboards set up outside and in the stadium, the fans were encouraged to write down the fights they really wanted and a card was drawn from that. The provisional line up looks very nice indeed, with fighters from various promotions meeting for the first time and even several fighters from Ratchadamnern stadium and Onesongchai promotions on the card.

There is a chance the card will change a little before the 5th, with several fighters appearing on Onesongchai promotions big anniversary show on the 14th of August, so will depend a lot on their form that night if they are still seen as good enough to feature on this prestigious event.
